Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, then you’ve seen all of the news regarding CBD.
I’ll be honest: I didn’t know what all of the hype was about, and at the time, I thought it was just that: bluff.
That is until I saw that the parent company of the Oreo cookie has announced that they are seriously considering adding CBD to their product line.
Now, while I’m one of the first people to call BS when I see it, the fact that a multi-billion dollar corporation (and the creator of my favorite cookie) is incorporating CBD into their products made me quite curious.
If you guys aren’t aware, there is a new café (on East University and Main St) in Brooklyn called Café CBD that, as the name suggests, carries CBD-rich products.
I had walked past the place everyday on my way to work (yes, I do have a day job aside from blogging. I know, I know…) and ignored it. I won’t lie: the place had my attention, and the long lines in front of it everyday and many frequent customers caught my eye. But, I didn’t want to dish 11 bucks on a coffee when I can get free coffee at the office.
The barista told me that the cafe sells hemp-rich CBD oil that they buy online from Royal CBD — aside from the coffees and teas that they had infused with CBD, there were 500mg CBD oil tinctures available on the counter, ranging from $50 to $79 for a bottle. The barista told me that the CBD in the coffee helps those with anxiety who still need the kick of caffeine in the morning, but don’t like the jitters.
While I don’t suffer from pain, I can’t say the same about my mild social anxiety. After having a sip of the $11 coffee, I was sold. I’m not sure if this is the new “New York hipster craze”, but I’m sold. The coffee was OK, but being able to have more than a few sips without triggering my restless legs was something that I’ve only experienced with CBD in my coffee.
Would I do it everyday? Hell no. That’s more than $300 per month on coffee, but I am considering buying some CBD oil tinctures myself and bringing it to the office with me so I can add it to my coffee there.
Until next time folks!
